What a great disk! Mixed along with the eventual Neo Geo Pocket games, the fact Arcades still existed in the US, and that I'd always be one of the most "in the know" when playing these games, making it really awesome to fight others who obviously were fans of KoF, and it was a great bunch of gaming.īut man, was I bummed to watch the "New Face Team" "kill" themselves off.

This laid the groundwork for 98 on Dreamcast for me. Handsome Boy!" considering I got Real Bout with it's music video for Blue Mary's Blues around the time, I had a great smile whenever her theme would come up. I didn't fall for Shermie back in these days. Bison for me, which I spent hours trying to beat as 'sim on a 13 inch t.v. Was so epic to beat him, and he was a much more "fun" fight than M. Permanent Save spot right before Orochi, lol. Got much more play than 96, mostly because my 96 was buggy with my Ram Cart, and characters would appear as glitched messes. it may not be the best KoF, but it'll always be among my top 3.Ī 97hhh, 97. Which reminds me, why were 90% of projectile attacks turned into short range attacks? For some reason that impressed me as a kid lol. Over time I ended up liking other characters: Benimaru, Ralf and Lowbear. and Choi and Iori cuz they 'slashed', I like that a kid. Chang cuz, come on guys, when you're 10 years old, how can you say no to a friggin' giant who beats the living shit out of others with an BIGASS STEEL BALL!. I remember my first team: Chang, Choi and Iori. What I like about the game, design wise is that the stages actually 'celebrate' that this is a fighting tournament, what with there being Ladies holding a card showing what round it is and each one is unique to each stage. This game blew my mind as a kid, and while it does have it's flaws, it still holds a special place in my heart. Now this is gonna be a bit personal but KoF 97.is the other game that got me into gaming.

Oh and Orochi Iori is legit as shown in the first match. He’s not the best at combos, but he does hit hard, has good range, and has a decent projectile.with Yamazaki infinites, Insane Korean Midget Pressuing and juggle combos, and making up wtf characters are saying in this 1 hour match set: He made his debut in 1991’s Fatal Fury King Of Fighters and last appeared in 2016’s The King Of Fighters XIV. Joe Higashi is best known for his Muay Thai fighting style. The three fighters still retain their moves from KOF ’97/KOF ’98/KOF 2002, albeit with new cancel and EX move options. The trio that bookended the Orochi saga in KOF is back and possibly better than ever. Kick, which now has juggle properties when using the EX version. He has kept most of his moves from KOF’98 and KOF’99, from his Rekkas to his R.E.D. He can use the EX version of his 212 Shiki Kotosuki move to OTG opponents for an extra hit. He has his old moves back (he’s an SNK-style shoto with uppercuts, projectiles, 3-hit special chain), though he learned a few new tricks. Iori YagamiĮverybody’s favourite murderous bass player is back. She still has her previous illusion-based moveset, along with a new orb-related DM. The KOF ’96 mid-boss is back and is helping Kyo and Iori out with mystical legendary flames and stuff. This latest reveal of Benimaru proves that EX moves can be pulled off even without being in MAX mode. This sleepyhead fights with a modified version of the Drunken Fist way involving his pillow, just like in KOF XIV. He plays like he does in KOF XIV, with his aerial attacks, his anti-air, and projectile moves. Here are the revealed characters so far, each with their own trailers. The King of Fighters XV was announced and features a nifty art style, some new battle mechanics in its 3v3 combat, and the return of fan favourites. A new gaming generation means another new King of Fighters game to rival Capcom’s offering.
